2021 SEASON INFORMATION
Skills Assessments: Skills assessments are MANDATORY for all new players who did not play in our 2020 spring season AND returning players who are moving up to a new age division. All players MUST ATTEND at least one assessment to be drafted to a team. This year we are only having one night of skills assessment for each division so players MUST attend their designated night.
T-Ball ages 4-5 and Coach Pitch age 6 do NOT have skills assessments. These players are assigned to teams randomly by the computer league organizer. . All players attending skills assessments will need to bring a glove.
ASSESSMENT DATES – JANUARY 2020
Mini-Minor (league ages 7-8) – Monday, January 18 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Baseball will take place on Borders Field; Softball will take place on Polston Field
Minor (league ages 9-10) – Monday, January 18 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Baseball will take place on Barnes Field; Softball will take place on Wolfson Field
Major (league ages 11-12) – Tuesday, January 19 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Baseball will take place on Barranco Field; Softball will take place on Polston Field
Senior (league ages 13-16) – Tuesday, January 19 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Baseball will take place on Drasdo Field; Softball will take place on Wolfson Field
Season Information: Once skills assessments are complete, managers will meet to draft their team on Saturday, January 23. You will receive a phone call from your coach by 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 24. You will have a team meeting between January 27 and January 29 to fill out paperwork and turn in any necessary information. Practices will begin the week of February 1. All required documentation must be completed before you can practice. Most teams practice twice a week with the possibility of a third practice in the cages. Practices will run through February 26. There are many different practice sites throughout Lake Wales; you will not necessarily be at the Little League complex.
Community Clean-Up Day will be on February 20, 2021 from 8 am to 12 pm. It is mandatory for each team to attend and help make our complex perfect for opening day.
Opening Day is Saturday, March 6, 2021. Your team’s first game will be this day along with opening ceremonies, team pictures, basket raffles, and tons of fun!
Most teams will play two times per week. T-Ball and Coach Pitch play on Saturdays and sometimes throughout the week. The season will end in mid-May.
Uniforms: Lake Wales Little League provides all players with a jersey, hat/visor, and socks. T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Baseball players must provide their own grey pants. Softball players must provide their own black pants. If your pants have belt loops, you will be required to wear a belt that matches your jersey.
